Why wish for something that one really does not want? Part 1 5. September 2008
At the German National Championships in Krefeld this year, I had the pleasure of listening to the same old aphorisms, dreams and fantasies.
• How things could be so different if…
• I could be just as good or better if…
• How close I could get to the top if… …I was really fit!
With the new season just starting i sadly believe, and we shall most probably see, that this dream (nightmare) shall once again continue because…
Fitness:
• You can not win it
• You can not receive it as a present
• Your parents can not buy or get it for you
• One has to enjoy working for it getting it and using it
• Daily Constant And Never-ending Improvement
• Fitness must become a Life Style
Stefan Leifels (35) Germany or Alex Gough (38) Wales are first-rate examples of how fitness became, and most probably still is, a very important part of their life style. Without their commitment to get, improve and maintain their fitness would neither of them been able to stay at their top of their game for as long as they have done.
Squash entails:
• many types of physical and mental skills
• Is a running game with flow, not stop and go!
• Speed, Coordination, Strength, Endurance, Strategy, Fighting-spirit.
• Squash is possibly the most taxing sport there is!
• So “Get fit to play squash, do not play Squash to get fit”.
